From grocery store to seaside hotel with a maritime touch
In 1907, Ulrik Plesner designed the building that is now Plesners Badehotel. At the time, the building was a grocery store for Jens Holst, who used the ground floor for ship trading with a shop, warehouse and showroom, while the first floor was residential.
We still try to keep that maritime feel, including the navy blue color as a big part of our interior design.

Our classic seaside hotel is beautifully located in the heart of Skagen. Here you are close to it all, yet away from the vibrant nightlife. At Plesners Badehotel you'll feel the charm of the city and a sense of history. Here you'll find high ceilings, a down-to-earth atmosphere and plenty of time to enjoy the tranquillity, lower your shoulders and cultivate intimacy. Everything has been renovated with attention to history and the original Plesner atmosphere. We have paid attention to detail and do not compromise on quality.

The beginning of Plesner
As part of Skagen's famous artist colony, architect Ulrik Plesner (1861-1933) designed the iconic Plesner building in 1907. The building was originally intended as a grocery store and private residence for the merchant. With the hotel and a number of other works such as Skagens Museum and Skagen Station, Ulrik Plesner left a big mark on the city's history.
Henning kjeldsen goes ashore
After a long career as a fisherman, Henning Kjeldsen went ashore and took over Hotel Plesner in 2023. With respect for the hotel's historic buildings and soul, Henning Kjeldsen wanted to create a classic seaside hotel with high ceilings and room for intimacy. Plesners Badehotel was now in the making.
Our future
During 2023, Henning Kjeldsen launched a series of initiatives to create the framework for the new Plesner Badehotel. With attention to detail, high quality and the original Plesner charm, the buildings were renovated and new buildings were constructed. In March 2024, the new Plesners Badehotel was ready to open.
